Every year the Irish Australian Chamber of Commerce gives exceptional Irish Australian businesses the chance to be recognised for their inspiring stories of success. This year was no different. The Irish Chamber of Commerce describes it as a chance “…to celebrate innovation and best practice in the Irish Australian business community…”

We’re honoured and proud to have been selected as a finalist in this year’s Irish Australian Business Awards for Start-Up for the Year. To qualify, candidates needed to be in operation for less than three years and were judged on motivations for starting the business and how the business has developed through the start-up phase.

The past year saw Publift double the client base, double the team and record nearly 5x their revenue YOY so the nomination for Start Up of the Year was a “cherry on top” to the sense of accomplishment the team was already feeling. Not to mention, a chance to get dressed up and celebrate with all of the people who have helped the business get to where it is today!

Publift staff at the Irish Australian Business Awards

The nomination for this award was particularly special, as Publift’s CEO Colm Dolan is a first-generation Irish emigrant from Portumna, a small market town in the south-east of County Galway. He brings with him true Irish morals and values from the Emerald Isle which can be felt throughout the business.

While there are clear traces of Colm’s Irish roots felt throughout the business, Colm and co-founder Tobin Page have built the business from the ground up right here in Sydney, Australia and embrace the local Australian culture and have primarily Australian employees. It is clear to see how Publift truly embodies a business worthy of an Irish Australian Business Award.

The bar was set sky high this year with a number of clear front-runners. After an evening of viewing video after video of talented Start-ups and hearing from several talented Irish Australian professionals, we were humbled even more to have been amongst the finalist. We extend our sincerest congratulations to Haldon Industries who picked up the Start Up Award. We had an incredible evening celebrating and hope to be back again next year!
